Find the official number

You need a specific government fee, and every website you find says something different.

What this trains: Trace a factual claim to the organisation that actually sets it.

The situation

You are helping someone register a trademark and they ask what it costs.

You search. The first result says one number. The second says another. A third gives a range and does not say when it was written. One is a law firm that wants you to call them.

Your task

Find the official current fee for filing a trademark application in India for an individual, startup or small enterprise.

Record four things:

  1. The number.
  2. The exact URL where you found it.
  3. The date that page was published or last updated.
  4. One condition that would change the fee.

Constraints

  • The source must be the body that actually sets the fee, not somebody reporting it.
  • If you cannot find a date on the page, write "no date shown" — that is a real and useful finding.

How this is evaluated

Reflection

How many results did you scroll past before reaching an official source? For most people the answer is between three and eight. That gap is what search ranking optimises for, and it is why this skill matters.

Constraints

  • The answer must come from the organisation that sets the fee, not a blog
  • You must record the date the source page was published or last updated
